Most blogger are thrilled to get comments on their blog but for me I don’t. After 2 months abandoning my other blog I was shock to log in and see I have 2662 pending comments ready to be published. Guess what!? All of them are spam comments by stupid russian geeks. I’m sure that’s Russian. Anyway the blog I abandoned was created just to review website, and thus get paid for it. It has a pagerank 3 when I bought the domain so I decided to sign up for a couple of sponsored review network. I receive offer from advertiser to review their website occasionally. Payout is not that great, ranging from $7.50- $12 for 200 word review on product/website.

Abandoning the website also means abondoning the sponsored review network. I haven’t log in to the network since 2 month till yesterday I saw 12 pending offer each offering $8 average per review. That’s $96 for me to grab! So I hired a few writers from DP forum and ask them to write simple review on the webistes. I knew I couln’t write all those 12 reviews on my own so a few writers will help me clear the load.

The sponsored review network I’m talking about is Blogsvertise. You can sign up as a blogger or advertiser if you want to get your product/services reviewed. For bloggers, I recommend you have a pagerank of 2 and above to get approved into the network.

I just bought the BlackBerry Bold 9000, the latest Blackberry model after the Blackberry Storm.  Its been 2 days since I bought it and everything is fine except for the messaging function. I can’t seem to link my gmail account to my Blackberry. I already did the online registration to activate the messaging fuction with my service provider, Singtel but it still won’t work. I guess I have to go down to Singtel myself to solve this problem. I signed for another 2 year plan with Singtel so I got the Blackberry Bold for SG$539. This is what the startup menu looks like. You can always change the shortcuts. One thing that I really like about the Blackberry Bold is that you can personalize and change almost everything. There’s so much option that sometimes it could get overwhelming.

Oh wait..Isn’t that…my blog! I connected through Wi-Fi connection. The connection is fairly fast allowing you can do simple things like checking your emails and stuff. But don’t wish to do heavy surfing on the Blackberry cause it could get frustrating after a while since you have to zoom in to the content and the cursor is not that great.

Its been a long time since I posted anything. For most part, I was very sick the past week so I was just too lazy to update the blog.  Since I recovered I am busy with a new porject I intend to complete by early september. I am working on a new website and if this goes as plan, the site can bring me up to $6,000 monthly. I am putting aside $1,000 for site promotion alone. I’ve also found a programmer/designer over at Scriptlance and they’re now working on the website. This is the first time I’m actually working with someone on a big scale project and invlove quite a sum of money.

Onto the main topic, I recenly sold a website of mine for $US5,600 over at Flippa. I put it up for auction and the starting bid was a measy $500. It just take one interested person to bid and the bids will start rolling in. That’s the thrill in running an acution, you will constantly be surprised. The changeover of the website went well, buyer happy, I am happy. I used Escrow to run the transaction so no one will be cheated. In all, the changeover took 1 week to be settle and for me to get paid. I’m using that money for my new project, hopefully this investment is worthwhile.

The only thing that’s bothering me right now is my National Service coming this october. I have to serve my country! I won’t have time to manage the site as I’m practically away from home on weekdays and only have the weekends to check on my online business. That’s the reason I sold my site, to lighten my burden. This kinda shit happens in life and you just can’t get away from it. Now I have to think of how to keep my online business running while I’m serving my country. Any suggestions?

I often show you how I spend money offline like shopping and my outings. I thougt I should share with you my spendings online. To me spending online is more dangerous than offline spending. The reason being, you don’t really see the money being spend. Its like you wake up in the morning and say to yourself, “did I really buy that $$$ last night!?, omg what was I thinking”. That’s one of the reason why you should get a debit card, not a credit card. Only spend the money you can afford to pay. Well most of my spending goes back into expanding my business online. I don’t go “shopping” online. Never done that before cause I know it’ll be addictive.

So I will just recollect what I have spent since the creation of this blog which was about a month and a half.

The first thing I bought was this wonderful blog template. It’s designed by Woothemes and the template is called THiCK. I bought it for $70 and got another template of my choice for free. You can enjoy this special offer too, buy any theme now and get another one for free. This offer won’t last long.

Now that I have a template, I need a logo. I held a contest not long ago at 99designs for my logo. I spent around $204 including the listing fee and admin fees.

As for advertising my CPA offers, I spent a total of $300. I tested Yahoo Search Marketing to see how it goes and it went pretty well. At least I didn’t lose any money trying it.

Just recently, I listed one of my website for sale and am glad to say it is sold. The winning bidder bought it for $xxxx. I won’t tell you exatcly how much yet, you’ll have to read my upcoming post to know about it. The listing fee is only $29 but the success fee is a whopping $280! Success fee means that if an auction is successful and someone buys it, we have to pay the success fee which can be split between the seller and buyer. Which I did, I paid half of the success fee, $140.  Its not a fixed $280 for all website, its based on percentage. So if your site is sold at a higher price, the higher your success fee, which is totally ridiculous for a website that just do the listing and auction. I think the’re sucking too much money for that limited service. They don’t even have an escrow service for buyer and seller. I will be telling more about the auction site in the upcoming  post.

With that, I had to carry out the transaction at Escrow. This is another $160 to waste for the service. Escrow is there so that buyer and seller do the transaction and transfer of website with ease, knowing they won’t get cheated by any party. Simply put, escrow is the third party.

Grand total, I spent US$903 in online spending. See how it just total up just by doing littile things online? Its scary isn’t it.

Izea recently lauched a new sub website similar to PayPerPost. As most of you know, its really hard to get approve by PayPerPost cause they only accept high traffic blogs into their network. With the new addition to the Izea family, there’s now PayPerPostV4.8 Alpha . That’s a really weird name I hope they change it once its fully launced. For PayPerPostV4.8 Alpha, you just need to add your blog to the marketplace and it will automatically be approved. No initial reviews are needed for blog, but it has to be a blog, not a website to be appected.

Another thing that is different is that blogger will receive offer directly from the advertiser. Blogger cannot choose which offer they want to wirte about. Now the advertiser do the choosing and blogger get to decline or accept the offer. You can easily earn an extra $10 per sponsored post. I have chosen the winning logo design for this blog and it goes to Design number 1! It was tough to choose since I was stuck bewteen design 1 and 5. Both looks good and suit my blog.  Made a little deal with designer 1, now I’ll be getting 2 design done by him, all thanks to him. Well I think that’s a good deal, at least I get to switch between the logo if I get bored at any of them.

I can’t wait to put it up on the header but I’ll have to wait for tomorrow cause I’m just too sleepy to do any work now. This is gonna be fun!

Its only been 1 week since I started this blog and traffic seems to be doing well. Maybe its because of my logo design contest that got viewer interested. I’ve been busy promoting my blog on major make money online blog like JohnChow.com, Shoemoney.com and also forums like DigitalPointForum. Its called promoting not spamming, I comment only on relevant post. My initial target was to get 20 visits per day to this blog, and look at what I got!

On the first day, I got around 90 pageviews, mostly coming from my post about RevenueLoop Paycheck. Well, people has always interested in money and proof. Hopefully by early September I’ll get around 500 visits/day. Facebook has also sent me some traffic the past few days. Feel free to share how you promote your blog.

7 days went by so fast and I was afraid I wouldn’t get any entry to my logo design contest. Now that the contest is over, I have over 48 entries. The contest was carried out over at 99designs.com. I am impress with most of the designer’s work. The prize money for the winning design will be US$150. You have a blog and you want to get people visiting it? Honestly it’s not that difficult to get readers to your blog, but the challenge is to keep them coming to your blog, to make them a loyal reader. I am no expert in blogging but these are a few factors you should avoid in your blog, or readers will hate you

So where’s the subscribe button?

It irritates me when I stumble upon a good content and I just can’t find the subscribe button. If you’re interested in a certain hobby or news, you want to be updated with the latest news and subscribing is the only way to get the content delivered while its hot. Most blogger are still unsure about RSS feed and its purpose. If you really want to capture extra reader and keep them coming to your blog, make sure you have a noticeable button up above the top fold. Stay away from adding Comment RSS as I believe its useless, who wants to be updated with the latest comments? At least for me I don’t.

Oh where’s that article I read last week?

Dress up your content be it articles, videos or images. If you’re too lazy to tag, categories and title your post properly, chances are Google might be lazy too. So your content will only appear on your blog and on your blog only. Once you dress them up, let readers find them by adding a search bar. This is really important if you want readers to stay on your blog. Imagine not having a search bar, readers will search from search engines and if your blog rank high,you’re lucky. If it turns out the other way, you just lost your reader to your next competitor. Always have a search bar on your blog so readers circulate around your blog only.

Who am I reading from and are you dead?

There’s a different between reading a newspaper and a story book. Readers want to know if what they’re reading is current and still applicable. I read an article on someone making $300,000 a day from adsense and was so excited, maybe adsense is still stronger than ever! Only to find out later from other sources it was written in 2005. What a disappointment. I made a promise to myself never to read any article if it missing “written by” and “posted on”. Write your name, make yourself known and tell people how long you have been blogging. Gain authority in your field.

You gotta be kidding me!?

I have to register to your blog before I make a comment? Is that so? If you’re too lazy to delete spam comments then you don’t deserve to have a comment section. Don’t ever make yourself lazy and let your reader do the work. People hate to register and don’t let this be a barrier between you and your readers.

Blogger a ghost?

If you have a comment section on your blog, which I believe every blogger does, guess what? Its not only for your readers. Its even more important for you to use it. That is the only way for you to interact with your readers and tell them more about yourself/your content. Reply to comment, get closer to your reader. How would you feel if you’re talking and no one give any sign, response, not even a smile? People need response, even if the comment doesn’t require answer, at least reply saying you appreciate their comment and would love to see them commenting around.

These are some of the tips I have for you as a reader point of view. I am sure you experience this yourself as a reader. We bloggers get carried away with what we do sometimes that we forget what people on the other side wants. Till then good luck getting loyal readers to your site/blog!

While planning to create this blog, certain things bothered me. One of the thing that keep bothering me was whether I can constantly update this blog with fresh content that my visitor is going to enjoy. The next thing I dont’t want in my blog is to jam pack it with only text. I’m no big fan of writting, I suck at writting. That’s when I thought I should rely on videos and pictures.

So I decided to buy a digital camera for  my outings, shopping and all that other stuff. With the paycheck I got from RevenueLoop, I bought myself a Casio EX-S12. I have to tell you I’m glad to buy this camera, thanks to the salesman. It is much cheaper than the Canon camera I wanted to buy and the specification is much better. It records in HD quality and dimension of image can go up to 4000×3000 pixel. I got a Lexar HD SC 8GB memory card for free.Oh and it shoots in 12 mega pixels. That’s wicked!
