Most blogger are thrilled to get comments on their blog but for me I don’t. After 2 months abandoning my other blog I was shock to log in and see I have 2662 pending comments ready to be published. Guess what!? All of them are spam comments by stupid russian geeks. I’m sure that’s Russian. Anyway the blog I abandoned was created just to review website, and thus get paid for it. It has a pagerank 3 when I bought the domain so I decided to sign up for a couple of sponsored review network. I receive offer from advertiser to review their website occasionally. Payout is not that great, ranging from $7.50- $12 for 200 word review on product/website.

Abandoning the website also means abondoning the sponsored review network. I haven’t log in to the network since 2 month till yesterday I saw 12 pending offer each offering $8 average per review. That’s $96 for me to grab! So I hired a few writers from DP forum and ask them to write simple review on the webistes. I knew I couln’t write all those 12 reviews on my own so a few writers will help me clear the load.

The sponsored review network I’m talking about is Blogsvertise. You can sign up as a blogger or advertiser if you want to get your product/services reviewed. For bloggers, I recommend you have a pagerank of 2 and above to get approved into the network.

Izea recently lauched a new sub website similar to PayPerPost. As most of you know, its really hard to get approve by PayPerPost cause they only accept high traffic blogs into their network. With the new addition to the Izea family, there’s now PayPerPostV4.8 Alpha . That’s a really weird name I hope they change it once its fully launced. For PayPerPostV4.8 Alpha, you just need to add your blog to the marketplace and it will automatically be approved. No initial reviews are needed for blog, but it has to be a blog, not a website to be appected.

Another thing that is different is that blogger will receive offer directly from the advertiser. Blogger cannot choose which offer they want to wirte about. You have a blog and you want to get people visiting it? Honestly it’s not that difficult to get readers to your blog, but the challenge is to keep them coming to your blog, to make them a loyal reader. I am no expert in blogging but these are a few factors you should avoid in your blog, or readers will hate you

So where’s the subscribe button?

It irritates me when I stumble upon a good content and I just can’t find the subscribe button. If you’re interested in a certain hobby or news, you want to be updated with the latest news and subscribing is the only way to get the content delivered while its hot. Most blogger are still unsure about RSS feed and its purpose. If you really want to capture extra reader and keep them coming to your blog, make sure you have a noticeable button up above the top fold. Stay away from adding Comment RSS as I believe its useless, who wants to be updated with the latest comments? At least for me I don’t.

Oh where’s that article I read last week?

Dress up your content be it articles, videos or images. If you’re too lazy to tag, categories and title your post properly, chances are Google might be lazy too. So your content will only appear on your blog and on your blog only. Once you dress them up, let readers find them by adding a search bar. This is really important if you want readers to stay on your blog. Imagine not having a search bar, readers will search from search engines and if your blog rank high,you’re lucky. If it turns out the other way, you just lost your reader to your next competitor. Always have a search bar on your blog so readers circulate around your blog only.

Who am I reading from and are you dead?

There’s a different between reading a newspaper and a story book. Readers want to know if what they’re reading is current and still applicable. I read an article on someone making $300,000 a day from adsense and was so excited, maybe adsense is still stronger than ever! Only to find out later from other sources it was written in 2005. What a disappointment. I made a promise to myself never to read any article if it missing “written by” and “posted on”. Write your name, make yourself known and tell people how long you have been blogging. Gain authority in your field.

You gotta be kidding me!?

I have to register to your blog before I make a comment? Is that so? If you’re too lazy to delete spam comments then you don’t deserve to have a comment section. Don’t ever make yourself lazy and let your reader do the work. People hate to register and don’t let this be a barrier between you and your readers.

Blogger a ghost?

If you have a comment section on your blog, which I believe every blogger does, guess what? Its not only for your readers. Its even more important for you to use it. That is the only way for you to interact with your readers and tell them more about yourself/your content. Reply to comment, get closer to your reader. How would you feel if you’re talking and no one give any sign, response, not even a smile? People need response, even if the comment doesn’t require answer, at least reply saying you appreciate their comment and would love to see them commenting around.

These are some of the tips I have for you as a reader point of view. I am sure you experience this yourself as a reader. We bloggers get carried away with what we do sometimes that we forget what people on the other side wants. Till then good luck getting loyal readers to your site/blog!
